How to Make the Most of Your Mini Session

A Few Simple Ways to Keep Your Session Stress-Free & Full of Connection

These orchard minis are meant to feel slow, organic, and beautifully imperfect. The goal is never perfection — it’s preserving connection, emotion, and the little moments that become core memories later on.

01. Arrive a Little Early

Give yourself a few extra minutes before your session begins. Arriving 5–10 minutes early allows everyone to settle in, breathe, and ease into the experience without feeling rushed.

The orchard is peaceful and just a short walk from where you’ll park — the perfect chance to slow down before we begin.

02. Let Go of Perfect

Your children do not need to sit still or smile perfectly for beautiful photos.

Some of the sweetest images come from movement, cuddles, wandering, giggles, and the little in-between moments. Kids will be kids — and as a mama myself, I completely understand that.

I want your little ones to feel comfortable, free, and safe to simply be themselves.

03. Trust the Process

You do not need to know how to pose or worry about what to do.

I’ll gently guide and direct you throughout the session while also leaving room for natural connection and movement. The magic usually happens when you stop focusing on the camera and simply love on your people.

At the end of the day, the most meaningful photos are usually the simplest ones — the moments where you’re simply together.

04. Keep It Simple

Simple almost always photographs best.

Soft neutral tones, organic fabrics, bare feet, movement, and relaxed styling all help create the timeless, nostalgic feeling these sessions are inspired by.

You do not need to overdo it — the beauty is already there.

05. Communicate With Me

If there’s anything you’re nervous about before your session, please reach out beforehand.

Whether it’s a shy toddler, sensory needs, nerves, family dynamics, or anything else weighing on you — the more I know, the better I can create a comfortable experience for everyone involved.

06. Pack a Few Simple Snacks

Especially for littles, snacks can make a huge difference during mini sessions.

I always recommend:

  • Dye-free snacks
  • Neutral, non-messy foods
  • Snacks that won’t stain clothing or color lips/fingers

Simple is best:
Crackers, pretzels, marshmallows, puffs, fruit snacks, or small familiar favorites usually work perfectly.

The goal isn’t perfection — it’s preserving this season in a way that feels honest, warm, and timeless.

07. Bring Comfort Items if Needed

A favorite neutral toy, blanket, pacifier, or calming playlist can go a long way in helping little ones feel secure and relaxed.

Sometimes those comfort items even become part of the sweetest memories captured during your session.

08. Simply Be Together

At the end of the day, these photos are not about perfection.

They’re about preserving this season exactly as it is right now — the tiny fingers, belly laughs, cuddles, movement, and love that fills the in-between moments.

One day, these photos won’t just be for you — they’ll be for them too.

These sessions are about slowing down, embracing the season you’re in, and preserving the little moments before they become memories.

As a mama myself, I know how quickly these seasons pass. The little fingers that always reach for you, the messy giggles, the way they fit perfectly in your arms right now… someday these will be the moments you miss the most.

That’s why I care so deeply about preserving photos that feel honest and real — not perfectly posed, but full of connection, emotion, and the beauty of simply being together. I truly cannot wait to create these memories with you.
